  28. the Beta period, for the Beta.  The changes from 6.0 to 7.0 are

  44. The biggest change in 8.0 in the dialing area is that the default
  45. modem type changed from NONE to GENERIC.  However, this should not
  46. affect you if you give a SET MODEM TYPE command to selecte a specific
  47. kind of modem.  It only affects people who try to dial without first
  48. specifying a modem type.

  50. Also the default modem hangup method was changed from MODEM-CoMMAND
  51. to RS232-SIGNAL.  This should only affect dialing if your modem
  52. was off-hook when you tried to dial AND it ignores the computer's
  53. DTR signal.

  58. Send the specifics to kermit-support@columbia.edu: what commands
  59. are you using in each case?  Don't send all your files and scripts.
  60. Just create a short list of commands that demonstrates the problem,
  61. for example (IN THIS ORDER):

  63.   set dial display on        ; so you can watch what happens
  64.   set modem type usrobotics  ; select modem type first
  65.   set line /dev/cua/a        ; then port
  66.   set speed 57600            ; (or other speed that works with 6.0)
  67.   dial 5099202               ; (or whatever the number is)

  69. If it doesn't work, send the commands you used and results of the
  70. dial display, and the Kermit version number (as shown by the
  71. VERSION command) and we'll take it from there.
